Fathimath Shifaza
RN, RM, BSc, MSc, PhD

Dr Fathimath Shifaza is the founder for Evidence based champions’ movement in the Maldives. Much of her work underpins why Evidence based champions are needed and essential for implementing evidence based practice especially in developing countries and organisations with limited resources. In November 2015, she has joined Flinders University, where she coordinated final year undergraduate topics as well as supervising Honours and Masters Students. Fathimath holds appointment as a lecturer at Flinders University, South Australia and a board member at Sigma Theta Tau Psi chapter. She is a recipient of the Australian Awards executive fellowship.

Qualified as a registered nurse midwife in 1997, Fathimath has worked in Maldives and in one of the major trauma centres in South Australia. In 2011, she was awarded Australian Postgraduate award and gained her PhD in 2014 at the University of South Australia. Her PhD looked into implementing EBP through EBP Champions in the Maldives. Her writing and research work focuses on translating evidence to practice, practice change and academic teaching styles.

Aishath Hamid
RN, RM, BSc, MSc

Aishath Hamid has been working as a registered nurse since 1996. She is the ward manager for Dr Ahmed Razi Memorial Dialysis Center since 2007. Aishath’s professional interests are in the management of kidney diseases, continuing professional development of nurses. She is also a founder member of EBP Health Champions Maldives and has been involved in a number of committees along with being the secretary of the nursing executive committee in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Aishath is currently undertaking her Master’s degree in Nursing at the Maldives National University. Her research looks into the level of patient satisfaction and perceptions on the quality of nursing care in the haemodialysis unit in IGMH.

Aishath Shamila Mohamed
RN, RM, BSc, MSc

Aishath Shamila has been working as a registered nurse since 1997. She is a ward manager in IGMH. Aishath’s professional interests are in the management of gyne and obstetrical nursing, continuing professional development of nurses. She is also a founder member of EBP Health Champions Maldives and has been involved in a number of committees. Aishath has a Master’s degree in Nursing from Monash University.


Fathimath Fileeshiya
RN, RM, BSc

Fathimath Fileeshiya is a founder member and the Deputy Director of EBP Health Champions Maldives. She is a registered nurse midwife with 20 years of clinical experience in reproductive health. She is also the Ward manager of Reproductive Health Center and Obstetric Emergency Room in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Her work has led to invitation to sit on many national maternal health committees and she has facilitated number of workshops on breast feeding, counselling and family planning along with been an external examiner for midwifery students. Ms Fileeshiya is currently undertaking her Master’s degree in public health at Villa Collage. She is also one of the trained person in visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) and actively involved in screening women in national cervical cancer programme.

Aishath Shifana

Aishath Shifana received her Bachelor in Teaching (Secondary) from Maldives College of Higher Education in 2007 and joined as a Biology teacher at G.Dh. Atoll Education Centre. In 2010, she was appointed as the Head of Science Department and later as a Grade Leading Teacher. Since 2013, she has been with Lale Youth International School (LYIS) as a Biology Teacher. From 2015-2016, she was part of the Senior Management Team of LYIS as a Leading Teacher, assisting and managing a group of certified teachers as well as the students of the grades assigned to her. Currently, she is assigned the post of Head of Coaching Classes in Horizon International Academy that is due to be commencing its courses and classes in March 2017.
